buttermilk ranch dressing*

I blogged upon the BEST homemade buttermilk ranch dressing recipe the other day! I had my girls at work make it and fell in LOVE! So in love that I decided to make it today for the hubby, but my spice rack is literally almost 4 yrs old (hey, it's only me and Landon at home) and that is not ok, so I went to the store and bought all new spices just for the recipe! So by the time I was ready to actually make the recipe, it seems like it cost me a fortune! But now I am prepared to make as much buttermilk ranch dressing as my little heart desires :)

Anyway, about the recipe. I did tweak it a tiny bit. First, I used light mayo. Biggest loser at my work starts soon, plus I'm going on a cruise in February, so I am trying to eat "healthy". I also used lowfat buttermilk. Also, the recipe calls for only 3/4 cup of buttermilk, but I actually put in 2 pints because I like my ranch to be a little thinner. Other than that, I followed the recipe to a T! It does call for quite the cornucopia (am I the only one laughing?) of spices, so don't say I didn't warn you!

Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
Recipe by Our Best Bites

*note that all spices/herbs listed below are dried. If substituting fresh, use the rules 1 part dry = 3 parts fresh.

1C mayo (I used light mayo)
2/3 C buttermilk ( I used 2 pints for a thinner dressing)
1/4 t white vinegar
1 t parsley
1/8 t dill
1/4 t garlic powder
1/4 t onion powder
1 1/2 t dried chives
1/8 t black pepper
1/4 t seasoned salt
1/8 t dry mustard

Combine mayo and buttermilk. And whisk together until it's lump-free. Add in vinegar and all spices.

Stir, stir, stir...For best results, make ahead of time and store in the fridge so the dry herbs have time to let all their yummy flavors out.
